Responding to the Challenges in the Age of Technology; Spirit-led Community – Moving into the Future

Community or society consists of individuals; each person is an indispensable part of it. Individual's thoughts, feelings and consciousness affects the quality of the group's work. Inter-personal relationship and interactions shapes the appearance and atmosphere of the community. Who leads the community? -- a single leader? a core group (centered power)? or other forces?

How to formulate the directions of a certain community? In the age of materialism and individualism, everyone stands on their  own footholds to form their respective worldviews which get increasingly firm and unmovable, while the specialization (professional divison) getting increasingly detailed and divided. What can connect among the individualized views? What can transcend personal differences and uniqueness?

From individual's point of view, why do I join a certain community? What does my relationship with the community mean to my life? How can I development myself so that I become like a healthily enlivened cell to support the community become stronger and more resillent? In what ways do the technology impact personal and community development?

Hyper and Hypo sensitivity - Sketch a Plan to Harmonise the Senses

Hyper and Hypo sensitivity - Sketch a Plan to Harmonise the Senses

A three part workshop offered as part of the Vital Years Conference: Sensing into the stream of life; nurturing the sense through childhood, tending the bridge between the spiritual and the physical.

We’ll sketch a plan that can become a reference for providing health-giving care that enables a child towards their Self through the senses. We may find the need to differentiate between constitutions and hypo/ hyper sensitivity, and introduce adjustments to our self and the environment, as well as offer applications via the skin (compresses, footbaths etc) to harmonise the senses. The workshop brings the foundations of healthcare from an anthroposophic perspective so as to support choices that complement the Waldorf curriculum. It is offered by Louise on behalf of Developing the Self Developing the World for the school program Healing the Impact of Technology which brings content to students and educators on the care and development of the senses, and is complemented with workshops and resources for home life.

Preventative Health Care from an Anthroposophic Perspective (for children to 9 years old)

This is a practical workshop for educators who are introducing wellbeing, health and hygiene curriculums, parents and soon to be parents, grandparents and caregivers educating and caring for children to 9 years of age

with Lynette Clifton and Louise Schnitzhofer

A 90 minute online workshop - $20 (AUD)

Sydney - Sunday, May 30 at 9am
Perth - Sunday, May 30 at 7am
New York - Saturday, May 29 at 7pm

Preventive health care for the young child is fundamentally based on providing a health-giving environment because they rely upon others for nourishment and are yet to develop boundaries from their surroundings. Illness can arise when the child does not have the strength to deal with what enters them.

Artificial intelligence has become a part of every environment within which the young child is united. However children lack discernment of the Sense of Self and Other. By applying rhythmical and natural health-giving applications to the senses and through the skin we can balance the effects of technology and support each child towards wholistic wellbeing.

This hands-on workshop introduces anthroposophic preventative health care applications to the skin that can be carried into the daily rhythms of the classroom and home life. These practises can be adapted and extended to suit the individual, classroom and family needs. They build healthy practises of self-care for life that help to maintain wellbeing while also developing a healthy sense of Self and care for the other.

Each participant will be required to bring some basic equipment such as towels, hot water bottle and lemon to partake in the workshop. The experience can be assistive for participants heading into sleep as well as for those re-aligning with oneself for the day.

This workshop is within the Developing the Self the Developing the World Health and Wellbeing Program: Healing the Impacts of Technology - Care and Development of the Senses which begins in early childhood. Children and adults are supported towards capacities for community-orientated participation in the world. Contact us for additional workshops that support older children and adults.

Anthroposophy, as a science, embraces spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive and physical aspects of the human being.

Building Healthy Community -- towards the Cultivation of Human Freedom

Building Healthy Community -- towards the Cultivation of Human Freedom

with Lisa Romero

Our patterns of thinking, our feelings and our will impulses are directly influenced by the community in which we grow. The foundations of both inner freedom and unfreedom are laid down through the course of childhood. With the rise of technology permeating extensively our outer lives, we are now being faced with its effects on our inner lives and its artificial influence over the development of thinking, feeling and will impulses. Technology is forming our community’s future and in doing so extending its persuasive influence into the inner capacities of its members.

We can choose to be ready as individuals, as parents, and as a collective community, with capacities—with the necessary inner strengths—to freely choose the way of life we determine to be supportive of the progression of humanity. We need to establish communities that are dedicated to human freedom; communities in which community health, child development and education, and social life are imbued with impulses supportive of the cultivation of individual freedom.

Spirit-led Community: Healing the Impact of Technology

A lecture by Lisa Romero

With our outer lives increasingly permeated by technology, we now face the effects that technology brings to our inner lives, as well as its artificial influence on the development of our thinking, feeling, and willing. Technology is forming the future of our communities and extending its pervasive influence into our inner capacities as community members.  Discovering how unfree we actually are has always been one of the necessary steps in awakening the inner development path. The foundations of our inner freedom, as well as our inner unfreedom, are greatly influenced during the years of child development. Our patterns of thinking, feeling, and willing are all influenced directly by the community in which we grow up.

“We must be prepared, as a collective humanity, with capacities and inner strengths enabling us to freely choose the form of community life that we determine to be needed for the future of humanity. We need to establish communities that are dedicated to human freedom―communities in which the health of the community, the education of the child, and social life are imbued with impulses supportive of the cultivation of human freedom.” ―Lisa Romero

Lisa will introduce spiritually healthy guidelines for lessoning the negative influence of technology on the inner life. Through providing an understanding of the foundations of inner health laid in childhood as well as the path of inner development that can be consciously engaged with as adults, a way can be shown for how new community life can lead us into a future that maintains and supports the evolving human spirit.

Seeking Health: Exploring Questions of Gender, Sexuality, and Technology in Our Time

This weekend will focus on how to support and elicit the true nature of the individual human being from childhood to adulthood. We will explore the need for new community responsibility in providing young people with guidance and encouragement in their growing sense of self-consciousness: in essence, the need to develop modern rites of passage. We will consider questions around the role, influence, and stigma of technology, gender and sexuality, and mental health, both in our daily lives and in the long-term. Finally, we will look at how young people can be respected and encouraged by their greater communities in choosing a healthful path into adulthood.
